Privacy and Cookie Policy
This policy explains what personal data Pocket Cartoonist (“we”, “us”) collects on pocketcartoonist.com and in the comic maker, why, and who we share it with. Contact: hello@pocketcartoonist.com.
What we collect and why
- Waitlist. Your email, your role (parent, teacher…), the book size you chose and, if you write one, a note. We also record your country, taken from your IP address. We use this to invite you to the beta and tell you about the launch, because you asked us to.
- Bot check. Cloudflare Turnstile checks technical signals such as your IP address and browser details to tell people from bots. This keeps the form free of spam.
- Visit statistics. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. Google Analytics and Meta Pixel run only if you accept analytics cookies; see Cookies.
- Comic maker. The account holder's email, and the stories, character and place descriptions, choices, pictures and comics made in the Service. We use them to make your comics and to run and improve the Service.
Children
The waitlist is for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through it. In the comic maker the account belongs to an adult, and children write stories under that adult's supervision. Please keep real personal details out of stories. If you think a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
Who we share data with
- Cloudflare hosts the site, keeps the waitlist in a database located in the EU, and runs the bot check and visit statistics.
- AI providers: language models and image generators that write, draw and lay out comics. We send them what each task needs. They process it under their own terms and privacy policies, which may allow them to use it to train and improve their models. How each provider handles data under its own policy is that provider's responsibility.
- Google and Meta receive visit data only if you accept analytics cookies.
We do not sell personal data. Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States; such transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Waitlist entries: until you ask us to delete them or we close the waitlist. Comic maker data: while the account exists; we delete it after the account is closed. Data already sent to AI providers is kept under their policies.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it or to stop using it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to hello@pocketcartoonist.com; we reply within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Cookies
The site works without cookies. We use them only for analytics, and only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
